EN-YA offers 10 different workshops for traditional crafts with English explanations. Among these different workshops, making cloisonné, woodblock prints, and earthenware doll painting are the most popular. In Kyoto cloisonné, you start with a white slate on a copper plate and choose from many colors of enamel to make your own design. If you make a mistake before you bake your piece, feel free to rinse your plate with water and start again. In the earthenware doll course, you are given a doll made from Kyoto soil and are invited to paint it as you like using 5 colors of acrylic paint. There are also courses on making spinning tops and potpourri bags, each course taking about 45mins to complete. EN家ではスタッフさんの英語による説明を受けながら10種の伝統工芸品の体験ができる。中でも人気なのは京七宝や木版画、土鈴人形の絵つけ。京七宝は、白く焼いた銅版に色をのせて絵柄を焼きつける焼き物で、失敗しても水で洗い流せばやり直せる。土鈴人形の絵つけ体験では、京都の土で作られた素焼き人形に5色のアクリル絵の具で絵付けをする。 ほかにも、こま作りや匂い袋の調合などの体験も可能で、それぞれ45分ほどでできる。 |
