Japanese beauty woven from a single thread.

The imperial court began supporting the development of Nishijin after the war at the end of the Muromachi period (15c).

Gold , silver and colorful threads were woven into patterns that elevated the very design out of the fabric.

In Nishijin Textile Center, an elegant Kimono Fashion Show, a demonstration of weaving by skillful artisans can be seen free of charge.

Also various Nishijin goods are sold here.

For activities, visitors can weave a table mat (see below) 室町時代の戦火の後に職人が集まり、宮廷の豊かな織文化を支える西陣織の歴史が始まった。
金糸、銀糸や鮮やかな色彩の糸を使って織ることで、豪華な柄が浮かび上がる。体験では、カラフルな糸を使い、長さ30cm・幅20cmのテーブルセンターを手織りする。
西陣織直売ショップで買い物をしたり、定期的に館内で行われる「きものショー」を楽しんだりするのもいい。

【Course】EXPERIENCE OF HANDWEAVING

Visitors can weave a small mat for a table(20×30cm) by traditional methods, using a mini-loom and can take it home as a souvenir.
