Shibori – friendly crafts for everyday.

The practice of Shibori dyeing has continued since the 1300s.

The basic idea behind Shibori dyeing is to bind part of the fabric so that dye does not reach it during the staining process, similar to tie-dyeing techniques in the West. Although this procedure sounds simple, translating your vision onto the fabric is no easy task – this technique requires skill and careful consideration, and cannot be done using machines.

Using a variety of shibori techniques, beginners can feel the challenge of the “Umbrella-roll” or “Embroidery” shibori, and have the opportunity to take home their very own original shibori design on a silk cloth, tapestry, or scarf.
